Job description

Position: Cybersecurity & Privacy Associate – Incident Response
Experience Level: 2–7 Years (Private Practice Preferred)
Location: Remote (U.S. based)
Compensation: Competitive Base + Bonus + Remote Flexibility

About the Role
We are representing a nationally recognized law firm with a top-tier Incident Response practice. The team is seeking a Cybersecurity & Privacy Associate with 2–7 years of experience to join its growing response group. This is a rare opportunity to work directly with breach response leaders, manage high-profile matters, and build a strong reputation in the cyber bar — all within a collaborative, remote-first environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as breach counsel on cybersecurity incidents including ransomware attacks, BECs, data exfiltration events, and insider threats.

  • Coordinate with forensic vendors, insurers, ransom negotiators, and public relations firms.

  • Manage client communications and support regulatory reporting obligations (OCR, state AGs, SEC, GDPR, etc.).

  • Draft notifications to regulators, impacted individuals, and business partners.

  • Advise clients on breach preparedness including IR playbooks, tabletop exercises, and contractual risk.

  • Stay current on legal developments under HIPAA, GLBA, CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and emerging state laws.

Who You Are

  • 2–7 years of legal experience with a strong focus on incident response, data security, or privacy law.

  • Background at an AmLaw firm, boutique cyber/privacy firm, or in-house legal role supporting breach response.

  • Familiarity with forensic investigations and IR vendor coordination.

  • CIPP certification a plus, but not required.

  • Clear communicator, capable of handling urgent, sensitive matters with professionalism.

  • Bar admission in good standing; location flexible but must be U.S.-based.

Why Join?

  • 100% remote role with flexible work structure.

  • Opportunity to work alongside former government regulators, industry-leading cyber attorneys, and high-profile clients.

  • Career development in a practice with a national reputation for excellence in incident response and privacy.

  • Strong support from partners, paralegals, and operational teams.
