Job description

Director of Product

Location: Hybrid (2 days per week in Oxfordshire)
Type: Permanent | Senior Leadership Position

An opportunity has arisen for a strategic and digitally-minded Director of Product to lead the transformation of a growing assessment portfolio. With significant investment secured and executive-level backing, this is a pivotal leadership role focused on defining a product vision that positions the organisation at the forefront of digital assessment.

This role requires a hands-on, senior product leader who is ready to shape the roadmap, embed new operating models, and lead a cross-functional team through a period of organisational growth and capability building. The successful candidate will drive product innovation across assessment experiences, integrating cutting-edge technologies, such as AI and adaptive delivery, while fostering a customer-centric and agile product culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver a clear, commercially-aligned product strategy and roadmap
  • Embed agile product development processes and coach a maturing product team through new ways of working
  • Build and lead cross-functional product squads, working closely with technology, research, and commercial stakeholders
  • Drive innovation through the use of AI and emerging digital technologies in assessment
  • Establish strong partnerships with external technology suppliers, ensuring smooth delivery and operational efficiency
  • Translate research insights into validated, scalable product propositions
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing product function with strong digital and UX capabilities

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience in senior product leadership, ideally within digital learning, education technology, or assessment
  • Deep understanding of agile methodologies and experience embedding product operating models in evolving environments
  • Ability to work across technology, research, and commercial teams to drive aligned product outcomes
  • Skilled in managing third-party technology relationships and navigating complex delivery ecosystems
  • Technically literate – able to engage confidently in discussions involving digital platforms, tools, and data-driven solutions
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills, with experience building and mentoring teams

Why Join:

  • A rare opportunity to shape and lead a core pillar of an ambitious, strategically prioritised transformation
  • Significant organisational support and investment to deliver long-term impact
  • A leadership role with clear scope to define culture, processes, and product strategy
  • Work with a committed and growing team, focused on delivering innovation in digital assessment

This is a key appointment that will influence both near-term outcomes and long-term growth. If you are a product leader ready to take ownership of a high-impact portfolio and help shape the future of digital assessment, we welcome your application.
