Head of AI Data Services
After a period of expansion and acquisitions (4 total), I was recently briefed by an AI-led Quality Engineering services company ($500mm) that is looking to continue their build out, with the need to hire a Global Head of AI Data Services.
Working across innovation areas such as AI, Automation, Blockchain and Extended Reality, they’re experts in this field, and their leadership status given by major analysts backs this up. Clients are coming to them because of their specialism, and having a globally diverse engineering arm allows them to be competitive wherever they need to be.
The AI Data Services BU, focuses on generating data for AI models using Computer Vision, NLP and multi-modal data collection, curation and annotation for AI and GenAI applications. In this role, managing a team of 5, you’ll be responsible for the strategic direction, development of newer capabilities, and delivery of those capabilities to clients.
This BU currently represents $30mm today, with all of the business coming from Big 5 Tech clients. There is a need to expand into other verticals, and based on the trajectory and incoming investment, we would expect this to grow to the $100mm - $200mm range within the next couple of years.
The main value piece? It’s all about timing. The company has tripled their revenue in the last 3 years, and expecting a similar effort in the next phase. This is considered a key growth engine for the business, and the opportunity is to build and scale globally with a company going through major expansion.
