Job description
We’re partnering with an early-stage, mission-driven AI startup building AI tools to accelerate nuclear energy deployment - a company where climate impact meets frontier technology. Their flagship platform enables regulatory research, search, and compliance drafting with AI outputs that are truthful, auditable, and complete, helping unlock one of the most important bottlenecks in the energy transition.
The founding team includes leaders from top-tier engineering organizations and the nuclear industry, combining deep technical execution with domain expertise.
As a Founding AI Engineer, you’ll take ownership of all things LLM - from fine-tuning and evaluation to productionization and agent development. You’ll work hands-on with researchers, engineers, and nuclear experts to design models that perform at the intersection of high-stakes reasoning and real-world reliability.
What You’ll Do
-
Build and deploy production-grade LLM agents powering the company’s core product.
-
Design evaluation frameworks and benchmarking pipelines to ensure trustworthy and consistent model behavior.
-
Develop synthetic data generation and fine-tuning pipelines optimized for regulated, safety-critical domains.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally to bring research into production and support future model extensions (vision, physics, robotics).
-
Set the technical direction for AI infrastructure and mentor early hires as the team scales.
What You’ll Bring
-
Proven experience building and deploying LLM systems in production (fine-tuning, RAG, evals).
-
Deep familiarity with Hugging Face, LangChain, vector databases, and LLM Ops best practices.
-
Strong understanding of model evaluation, data quality, and prompt/agent design.
-
Hands-on, startup-ready mindset - you enjoy owning outcomes end to end.
-
Bonus: open-source contributions, published research, or experience at the cutting edge of applied ML.
Why This Role
-
Mission-driven impact: Help unlock clean nuclear energy and power the AI era responsibly.
-
High ownership: Founding-level influence on product, research, and infrastructure.
-
Exceptional team: Work alongside engineers and scientists from leading institutions and companies.
-
Top-of-market compensation: Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
