Job description

Our client is a mission-driven Series B scale-up that is pioneering a whole new SaaS category – FactoryOps. They are looking for an Engineering Manager who is always striving for more: more ways to better themselves, the company, and those around them.
Leading a team of talented engineers as a player-coach—you’ll spend a significant portion of your time writing high-quality, production-ready code while also growing and mentoring the team.

What you’ll do

  • Act as a technical lead on major initiatives, designing scalable solutions that meet both user and business needs

  • Help prioritize and plan engineering workstreams, ensuring smooth delivery of new features and long-term platform scalability

  • Support engineers in their growth through thoughtful feedback, regular 1:1s, and a focus on learning and development

  • Partner closely with Product and Design to translate big-picture goals into execution-ready sprints

  • Conduct code reviews and instilling a culture of excellence, test coverage, and continuous improvement

  • Improve systems and processes, including CI/CD pipelines, deployment strategies, and team rituals

  • Model ownership, transparency, and resilience in the face of ambiguity—thriving in a fast-paced, global startup environment

  • Contribute to Guidewheel’s inclusive and high-performance engineering culture

Tech Stack:
Our clients stack includes the following technologies: TypeScript, Node, Vue, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Google Cloud.

Who we want:
The ideal Engineering Manager will have a strong technical foundation and a passion for building and leading high-performing teams. You’ll bring:

  • At least 8 years of experience as a software engineer, with 2+ years in a formal or informal technical leadership or engineering management role

  • A track record of hands-on development with the full stack—from front-end frameworks to backend systems and data stores

  • Strong architectural instincts and experience scaling modern web applications

  • A builder mindset with a bias for action—comfortable jumping in and unblocking team members through code or coaching

  • An entrepreneurial attitude—you want to be part of building something from the ground up

  • Experience in Agile development environments, ideally with globally distributed teams

  • Relentless curiosity, high standards, and a sense of urgency—you set the tone for excellence in the team

  • Strong communication and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance technical depth and leadership

Some Nice to Haves:

  • Experience scaling a web-based software product with large data volumes

  • Familiarity with design thinking or lean product development

  • Experience in high-growth SaaS environments or industrial tech

  • Prior startup experience and comfort wearing many hats

What’s in it for you?
There are a lot of reasons why you should want to be our Engineering Manager, but some of the top reasons are:

  • Work with cutting-edge technologies, including machine learning and big data tools, on a live stream of terabytes of machine data per week.

  • Contribute to core technology at a product-first startup that values craft and speed equally.

  • Be a leader on a small international team of engineers, helping shape the future of the company’s tech stack and solving meaningful, large-scale problems.

  • Engage in the full product lifecycle - from ideation and design to deployment and post-release improvement.

  • Join a mission-driven company on a path toward a $10B IPO by 2030, creating daily impact on global industry and sustainability.

  • Be part of building the FactoryOps infrastructure for the world’s manufacturers - playing a key role in a business with generational potential.

  • Receive equity in the business through a generous employee equity program - your work matters, and so should your stake in the success.

Additional benefits include:

  • Fair & equitable pay. Annual on-target earnings for this role are in the range of $225,000-$250,000 USD for domestic hires. For candidates located outside of the US, compensation will reflect fair market trends for that location. All compensation is dependent on many factors and our internal compensation and role bands..

  • 100% remote culture. Work from wherever, whenever - we hired you to get a job done, and as long as that is happening, you have the autonomy to get it done where and when you feel comfortable.

  • Flexible PTO policy. We value balance and boundaries. To be the best version of you, you need time away from your screen, so we want you to take it.

  • Generous equity. Everyone at Guidewheel receives equity in the business. You will be working hard to build something great, and when we reach the finish line, you should be rewarded for your hard work.

  • Health Benefits. We offer different health benefits to cover your personal needs from day one of employment - you pick the plan that makes the most sense to you.

  • Additional Perks. Included but not limited to, 401k (match up to 4%), $500 home office set-up, parental leave, company laptop, retirement plan, paid company holidays, and some (if you choose) company travel to spend time with your Guidewheel peers.
