The Role

 

We are seeking an experienced Data Standards Manager to join a new enterprise-wide data organisation. This role represents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced data professional to accelerate our journey towards becoming a data-driven business through implementation and management of defined data standards.

 

Reporting to the Head of Data Architecture within Global IT, you will have the opportunity to help shape the building of an enterprise-wide, scalable data organisation.  

 

Competencies

The Data Standards Manager will demonstrate competencies across four key dimensions:

  1. Defines processes to implement data standards
  2. Manages the testing and implementation of data standards
  3. Maintains a central repository of data standards
  4. Contributes to the development of an enterprise-wide data strategy and vision

 

Key accountabilities

 

Data Standards Gatekeeping

 

  • Define processes to implement data standards, driving improvements in the quality of data used to generate business insights through agreed data standards, definitions, and quality metrics
  • Define and agree to approach to Data Quality ownership with data domain owners. Work closely with the business functions to collate data standards they have captured from data owners and data stewards across the organisation
  • Manage the testing and implementation of data standards, working closely with data platform and engineering teams to ensure they are reflected in data ingestion, pipelining and modelling activities, based on agreed definitions
  • Maintain a central repository of data standards, such as data dictionary and metric catalogue, maintaining and updating details of data standards based on feedback from the business

 

Data Quality Management

 

  • Facilitate prioritisation and remediation of data quality issues and changes
  • Define and agree to a robust data quality issue resolution process. Regularly review status, progress and approach of data quality with data owners

 

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience
  • 3 to 5 years of data management experience
  • Demonstrable experience of designing and implementing data standards and data quality initiatives
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Understanding of data management and governance best practices
  • Strategic mindset, with extensive experience developing and delivering against business strategies and roadmaps

Desirable:

  • FMCG industry experience
  • Experience with the Microsoft Azure enterprise technology stack
  • Software industry knowledge and technical ability in MDM and Datawarehouse technologies, including experience working with enterprise data platforms
