AI Governance Lead
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 months
Location: hybrid, central London 3x times per week
Pay: negotiable, inside IR35 via an umbrella company
We’re looking for an AI Governance Lead to lead the development and implementation of governance frameworks that ensure ethical, compliant, and responsible AI practices. You’ll work across departments to embed AI risk management, compliance, and policy development within a forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of AI innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement AI governance strategies aligned with organisational objectives and regulatory standards
- Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical governance structures
- Conduct responsible AI assessments and maintain up-to-date AI inventories
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate governance into compliance processes
- Lead governance focus groups and facilitate discussions on responsible AI strategies
- Represent the organisation in regulatory forums and industry panels
- Provide expert advice on AI compliance to internal stakeholders and clients
Essential Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated expertise in AI governance, risk management, and policy development
- In-depth knowledge of data governance principles, GDPR, and global AI regulations (e.g. EU AI Act)
- Strong project management skills, with experience delivering complex initiatives
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences
- Practical experience in ethical AI practices, including bias mitigation and fairness assessments
- Familiarity with emerging technologies such as generative AI and machine learning
- Solid understanding of the end-to-end AI model lifecycle
Desirable Skills
- Ability to proactively identify and mitigate risks in AI systems
- Experience in creating and delivering training programmes to promote ethical AI development
