Sr Data Scientist – Alternative Data and Predictive Analytics
Location: New York
I'm currently working with one of the world’s leading alternative investment management firms, and they’re seeking a talented Data Scientist. This team is at the forefront of utilizing advanced analytics and unique datasets to predict and track the financial and economic performance of companies and countries globally.
About the Role: You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Apply statistical and predictive modeling techniques to large, unstructured datasets.
- Evaluate new data sources and determine their relevance to key financial metrics.
- Produce data-driven forecasts to support both quantitative and discretionary investment strategies.
- Work closely with portfolio managers and analysts to generate insights that have a direct impact on investment decisions.
What They’re Looking For:
- PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.
- Start up experience
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- Proven experience conducting independent research on large datasets.
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, R, MATLAB, C++, Java, C#, or Perl.
- An interest in financial markets and experience working with alternative data sources.
