Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer
Locations: Alton
Work pattern: Hybrid
Scope: Inside IR35
Contract Length: 6 Months
My client who specializes in planning, constructing, and executing space missions for global clients is actively hiring a skilled Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their team. You will be responsible for working on microsatellites. This position will include tasks related to payload development and launch, structural design and analysis, hardware selection, testing, validation, and customer interaction.
Requirements
• A degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific or engineering field, preferably in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
• Delivery of space technology and space missions’ studies
• Experience in Systems Engineering on a small satellite program or complex subsystems within larger projects.
• Interfacing with external clients
• Knowledge of Space Standards (e.g. ECSS, ITU, ISO)
• Spacecraft / SQM AIT (Assembly, Integration and Test
• Knowledge of UK Space Industry.
• Experience reporting project progress to internal stakeholders
Skills required.
• Ability to understand requirements from launch vehicle user manuals.
• Experience with CAD software, particularly SolidWorks (including ePDM)
• Awareness of requirements from other subsystems influencing spacecraft mechanical design, including thermal, micro-vibration, and AOCS.
• Comfortable working in project delivery and bid teams.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
Desirable Qualifications
• Familiar using FEM package (Nastran etc)
• Knowledge of various machining methods and manufacturing process for components
• Capability to interpret and create high quality mechanical drawings considering GD&T
