We are looking for a Senior Associate with 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity law, specifically focused on incident response. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the legal and regulatory aspects of cybersecurity incidents, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record of managing and responding to complex cybersecurity breaches. As a Senior Associate, you will play a crucial role in advising clients, managing incident response efforts, and contributing to the growth of our Cybersecurity practice.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice and counsel to clients on incident response, including breach notification requirements, regulatory obligations, and mitigation strategies.
- Lead and manage incident response efforts, working closely with clients, forensic experts, and other stakeholders to contain and remediate cybersecurity incidents.
- Conduct thorough investigations of cybersecurity breaches, including data analysis, evidence collection, and coordination with law enforcement when necessary.
- Assist clients in developing and implementing robust incident response plans and policies to prepare for potential cybersecurity threats.
- Represent clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions related to cybersecurity incidents.
- Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and regulatory changes to provide clients with up-to-date advice and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, risk management, and compliance, to ensure comprehensive incident response strategies.
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and legal staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including client pitches, presentations, and thought leadership initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school..
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in cybersecurity law, with a focus on incident response, preferably at a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
- Extensive knowledge of Canadian and international cybersecurity laws and regulations, including breach notification requirements.
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities.
