Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Incident Response Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in incident response and privacy laws, with at least 3 years of private practice experience. This role requires exceptional analytical, research, and communication skills, as well as the ability to manage complex legal issues related to data breaches, cyber incidents, and privacy compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Incident Response Management: Lead and coordinate the response to data breaches and other cyber incidents, including containment, investigation, and remediation efforts.
  • Legal Compliance: Advise clients on compliance with federal, state, and international privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and others.
  • Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations into data breaches and cyber incidents, including working with forensic experts, gathering evidence, and preparing reports.
  • Communication: Draft and review notification letters to affected individuals, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders. Provide clear and concise updates to clients throughout the incident response process.
  • Policy Development: Assist clients in developing and implementing privacy and data security policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Litigation Support: Provide support in litigation and regulatory enforcement actions related to data breaches and privacy violations, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and privacy impact assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Client Counseling: Provide ongoing legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of privacy and data security issues.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensure: Admitted to practice law and in good standing with the state bar.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of private practice experience in incident response and privacy laws.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and legal research skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
    • Proficient in legal research tools and software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
