Engineer (FTTx) Start: ASAP Duration: ongoing Location: 90% travelling around West Cornwall Pay: negotiable, INSIDE IR35 via an umbrella company We are seeking an experienced FTTx Site Supervisor to oversee field operations in the Cornwall West region. This is a critical role ensuring all site activities—including civil works, cabling, splicing, and testing—are delivered in line with approved designs, health & safety regulations, and required quality standards. Key Responsibilities: - Supervise day-to-day activities across multiple FTTx workstreams (civils, cable works, testing, etc.) - Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, method statements, risk assessments, and H&S best practices - Maintain strong communication with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure timely and high-quality delivery - Act as the key point of contact on site for issue resolution and progress reporting - Ensure adherence to Openreach PIA procedures, quality standards, and accreditation requirements Essential Requirements: - Full UK driving license & own vehicle (must have) - Previous supervisory experience on large-scale UK FTTx rollouts - Solid understanding of FTTx architecture, designs, and field deployment techniques - Proven problem-solving skills and ability to act on initiative - Confident communicator with a professional and inspiring presence - Fluent in English (written, spoken, and reading) - Strong working knowledge of traffic management, excavation safety, and underground asset avoidance Mandatory Certifications / Accreditations: - SA001 (Safety Overhead) - SA002 (Safety Underground) - NRSWA (Supervisor level) - SSSTS or SMSTS (preferred) - Asbestos Awareness Desirable Qualifications: - MEWPs for Managers (especially for aerial work) - NEBOSH - SA005 / SA006 - Highway Sector Schemes (for low and high-speed roads) |
