Job description

Our client, a world-class F500 organization with one of the best reputations in the Industrial Automation and Digital Manufacturing space, is currently looking for a senior executive in their software marketing group to expand on massive growth in their digital and software business products. The Director of Global Software Marketing will be an extremely key role in the organization continued growth and success, leading all marketing and demand generation efforts for the full software line globally.

This will be a highly strategic and impactful role for the organization, responsible for leading a team of experienced marketers to develop of go-to-market strategies and marketing programs that acquire new customers, retain, and grow existing segments. As the world continues to see the adoption of cloud solutions accelerate within the industrial sector, this role becomes a key catalyst to accelerate Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) goals for the company working alongside the sales and commercial teams.

This role is extremely strategic and highly visible across the organization, working very closely with SVPs, GMs, and the C-suite on all software segment growth. The right person for this role will come with 10+ years of marketing leadership experience from a growth stage software business and ideally have worked in the industrial sector.

 

What you will do

  • Lead development and execution of global software marketing vision, strategy, and plans (both annual and multi-year) to achieve overall company growth targets including ARR targets
  • Work closely with Business Unit leadership (SVPs, VP/GMs) and serve as single point marketing contact to convert their vision and priorities into marketing strategies and tactics to support product line revenue goals
  • Lead marketing participation in senior leadership reviews and be responsible for communicating status of software marketing initiatives and results for key growth initiatives
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of experienced software marketers (Strategic Marketing Managers, Commercial Marketing Managers) and motivate them to deliver on the marketing IBOs (Integrated Business Objectives) set forth by VP of Global Marketing.
  • Orchestrate successful product launches by leading marketing team efforts working closely product management, sales, enablement, regions, and other key stakeholders and track product commercialization success metrics.
  • Be accountable for staffing & recruitment, budget facilitation, reporting and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Responsible for leading marketing efforts (content, campaigns, coordination) for the delivery of synergy revenue targets for new acquisitions in software space.
  • Oversee the development of core software positioning, messaging and compelling content and solution narratives, including customer and field facing product collateral to communicate value propositions and differentiation to customers, channels, and partners.
  • Lead development and execution of best-in-class marketing plans and programs that successfully drive top of funnel leads (MQLs) and drive demand for software solutions. Co-ordinate with the director of Omni channel demand gen to establish clear campaign metrics of success and make the team accountable for delivering them.
  • Collaborate and co-ordinate with regional VPs and marketing directors and provide marketing support to deliver regional marketing priorities
  • Facilitate collaboration between portfolio and industry marketing teams to achieve portfolio pull-through for industry-led marketing campaigns through industry-centric content and messaging
  • Provide guidance to the partner marketing team and identify and deliver enablement and activation needs for the partner network (distributors, OEMs, system integrators, and technology partners)

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, IT, engineering, and related disciplines. MBA preferred
  • Ability to travel 25-30% of time as per business needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in a marketing leadership role with experience in software marketing
  • Experience developing marketing strategies and execution playbooks with proven results
  • Experience marketing enterprise software, cloud technologies and SaaS offerings
  • Experience managing and mentoring high performance teams. Passion for coaching and mentorship
  • Passion and curiosity for technology, evolving trends in digital transformation, cloud, analytics & IIoT
  • Ability to connect the dots across a broad portfolio of offerings & articulate strategy, differentiation
  • Strong leadership skills – personal leadership and collaboration skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills with executive presence and ability to develop strong relationships with senior level executives

  • Prior experience working in automation industry, experience marketing to various industry types (discrete, batch/hybrid, and process)
  • Proven experience leading global, integrated B2B marketing programs with demonstrated success driving pipeline and marketing-sourced & influenced revenues
  • Prior experience working in a top strategic consulting firm is a big plus
  • Possess an expert understanding of how to drive Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) and marketing for subscription software
  • Possess strong decision-making and critical thinking skills.
