Role: Data Science Manager

Location: London

Hybrid: 50% Office/Remote

Salary: Up to £100,000 + 20% discretionary bonus & benefits

 

I am currently recruiting for a business within the professional services space who are currently recruiting for a Data Science Manager. The successful candidate will play a critical role across the client’s continuous data transformation programme, initially focusing on demonstrating the value of data use cases to business stakeholders and also, strengthening the data science capabilities across the organisation.

 

To be successful in this role you will require a solid foundation in data science, programming, statistics, data manipulation, and data analysis is imperative.

 

Key Responsibilities:

As a Data Science Manager, your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Driving Data Science Capability: Leading and enhancing the data science capability of the organization to drive value. This includes:
  • Implementing data science and AI techniques to automate manual tasks across the organization, such as sanctions checks and fraud monitoring.
  • Collaborating with our actuarial team to perform data mining, uncovering additional insights to empower underwriters in improving profitability by identifying lucrative micro-market segments.
  • Implementing data science and AI techniques to automate manual tasks across the organization, such as sanctions checks and fraud monitoring.
  • Collaborating with data analysts and actuaries to conduct research, identify, cleanse, analyze, visualize, and derive insights from external data sources.
  • Collaborating closely with the actuarial team to leverage their business expertise in extracting key insights from more complex, 'black box' data science techniques.
  • Ensuring the continual upskilling of our data scientists and data analysts to equip them with new and emerging techniques while maintaining accountability.
  • Collaborating with the Data Analytics Manager to establish and maintain best practices and operational procedures for effective data management within our organization.

 

Experience:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Expertise in data science techniques.
  • Advanced programming skills, with proficiency in Python being advantageous.
  • Strong capabilities in statistics, data manipulation, and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability in stakeholder management, engaging effectively with technical experts and senior management, and proven leadership skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in actuarial and/or data roles, preferably within insurance
  • Previous experience in roles supporting the development of data consumption use cases.
  • Familiarity with Azure data technology stack, including Data Factory, SQL, Synapse Analytics, and PowerBI, is advantageous.
