Salary:

About the role:

Reporting to the Head of Technology and Enterprise Architecture, the Data Analyst is one of the digital team’s critical functions in delivering a data driven business aligned with our company’s vision.

The primary purpose of this role is to ‘see the unseen’ across the business in analysing data sets to find innovative ways to solve business problems and deliver improvements across all areas of the company. This exciting role will support the development of the data strategy and have responsibility for managing data, working closely with the Data Engineer and internal stakeholders to address challenges through data innovation and new opportunities for the business.

The Data Analyst will support and coach the business to visualise the benefits of data and drive to create a digital culture and data driven business where digital and data is at the heartbeat of the Company

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and communicate the most appropriate medium to visualise data to tell compelling and actionable stories relevant for business goals.
  • Maintain a user focus to design solutions that meet their needs, taking account of strategic goals.
  • Work as part of a team to help define and develop approaches to getting value from data whilst working independently on specific analysis tasks.
  • Clean, structure and query asset data; build and use tools for analysis to identify patterns and trends.
  • Apply rigorous quality procedures for management of version control and audit trail in code development.
  • Research and evaluate the potential application of new and emerging technologies for infrastructure data capture and analysis.
  • Manage and oversee data related projects, working with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver findings.
  • Help to create decision support tools that combine, contextualise and create value from collected data.
  • Create visualisation dashboards to bring data to life for the end users.
  • Communicate findings to both technical and non-technical people, verbally, statistically, in writing, through visualisations and presentations.

Person Specifications – Skills, Experience & Attributes:

The Data Scientist sees the unseen and analyses data sets to find innovative ways to solve business problems whilst identifying opportunities to improve performance, profitability and drive efficiency. A pioneering individual that is excited by the opportunity to develop a data driven culture. Technical Skills and Experience

  • Quality assurance, validation and data linkage.
  • Statistical methods and data analysis skills and techniques. Proven experience with SQL, BI tools and spreadsheets.
  • Proven IT and mathematical skills, demonstrated through relevant qualifications and/or work experience.
  • Experience in programming concepts and methods, databases and data analysis, and familiarity with languages such as Python, MS SQL or MatLab, and Git or similar tools for code management and version control.
  • Knowledge and experience of Azure cloud software. 
  • Data management and understanding of data sources, data organisation and storage.
  • Data modelling, data cleansing, and data enrichment skills and experience. Understanding of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling and can develop knowledge of data cleansing and standardisation.
  • Data visualisation - can interpret requirements and present data in a clear and compelling way, using graphical representations and data visualisations.
  • Ability to communicate with clarity and translate technical concepts into non-technical language, understanding what communication is required for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project management and co-ordination skills and experience.
  • Analytical yet creative approach to problem solving and presenting solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and understand how to share insights with stakeholders.
