Position Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as a Cybersecurity and Privacy Partner. As a key member of our firm, the Cybersecurity and Privacy Partner will play a pivotal role in advising clients on complex legal matters pertaining to cybersecurity, data privacy, compliance, risk management, and incident response.

Responsibilities:

  1. Client Counseling: Provide strategic legal advice to clients on a wide range of cybersecurity and privacy issues, including compliance with data protection laws, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.

  2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential cybersecurity and privacy vulnerabilities within client organizations. Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies to safeguard sensitive data and mitigate legal exposure.

  3. Policy Development: Assist clients in drafting and implementing robust cybersecurity and privacy policies, procedures, and incident response plans tailored to their specific business needs and regulatory obligations.

  4. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving cybersecurity and privacy regulations at the international, federal, and state levels. Advise clients on compliance requirements, assist with regulatory filings, and represent clients in regulatory investigations or enforcement actions, when necessary.

  5. Transactional Support: Provide expert legal guidance on cybersecurity and privacy issues in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and other corporate transactions. Conduct due diligence reviews to assess cybersecurity and privacy risks associated with potential transactions.

  6. Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Represent clients in cybersecurity-related litigation, arbitration, mediation, and regulatory proceedings. Collaborate with litigation teams to develop effective legal strategies and defenses in response to cybersecurity incidents, data breaches, and privacy-related disputes.

  7. Thought Leadership: Contribute to the firm's thought leadership initiatives by authoring articles, white papers, and client alerts on emerging cybersecurity and privacy trends, legal developments, and industry insights. Participate in speaking engagements, webinars, and panel discussions to share expertise and build the firm's reputation as a leader in cybersecurity law.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience practicing cybersecurity and privacy law at a reputable law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency.
  • Proven track record of advising clients on complex cybersecurity and privacy matters, with a focus on risk management, compliance, and incident response.
  • Deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, such as GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, NIST, ISO, and PCI DSS.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to mentor junior attorneys, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and build client relationships.
