Senior Python Developer (Contract)
Location: London – Hybrid (2–3 days in office per week)
Contract Duration: 6 months
Day Rate: £382.50 (Inside IR35)

We work on providing new models, tradable insights, distinctive data sets, and agile technology solutions that empower analysts and support commercial decision-making.
We provide direct technology support worldwide, combining IT expertise with practical analytics experience, including data science methods, statistics, numerical algorithms, derivative pricing, and optimisation. You will deliver practical technology solutions while supporting strategic initiatives such as modern data repositories, data ontologies, analytical toolkits, visualisation technologies, and cloud computing.
You will work closely with analysts across energy and commodities markets to craft and build solutions to complex business problems in a multifaceted commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities

Build strong relationships with analysts and stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.

Contribute to advancing the technology agenda across regions.

Act as a technical authority and provide expert guidance to analysts.

Provide day-to-day problem-solving support and proactively share best practices.

Develop efficient, resilient, and innovative solutions using modern data analytics technologies (e.g., Dataiku, Power BI, Plotly Dash).

Partner with analysts to create custom interactive dashboard visualisations.

Design and build scalable, reusable components and frameworks aligned with mandated architectures.

Adhere to software development best practices for enterprise-grade applications.

Contribute to shared proprietary model libraries for global use.

Collaborate with architecture and infrastructure teams to ensure alignment with technology strategy and act as a liaison between IT and analysts.
Essential Skills & Experience

Proven experience with Python programming for data analysis, including libraries such as
pandas
,numpy
, andJupyter

Ability to write clean, production-ready, and efficient code for numerical and analytical tasks.

Experience in Object-Oriented Programming and designing maintainable classes using design patterns.

Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.

Familiarity with cloud computing concepts, preferably AWS.

Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g., Plotly, Dash, Power BI).

Understanding of web services and integration with REST APIs.

Knowledge of software development best practices, including unit testing, version control (Git), build patterns, and deployment pipelines.

Strong analytical, reasoning, and mathematical skills.

Fluent English communication skills, verbal and written.
Desirable Skills

Familiarity with energy and commodities markets.

Exposure to time series forecasting, econometrics, or optimisation techniques.

Experience with data science platforms such as Dataiku.

Interest in UX design and end-user-focused development.

Experience in large-scale data analysis and predictive modelling, ideally in trading, banking, or energy sectors.
