Senior MES Technical Consultant – Full Time – Remote/Travel (East Coast)

My client who is a Global Leader within the Industrial Automation space is currently looking to on board a Senior MES Technical Consultant, for what will be a Full Time role.
For this role, individuals are able to work remotely with client travel at approximately 15-20%. The bulk of client sites are located along the East Coast and thus there is a preference for individuals already based in EST/CST, however they are open to considering individuals who are based U.S. wide.
The Role:
- Become a technical expert in my client’s own MES platforms. You will develop a deep understanding of the inner workings of the platform and the available API, and how the platform can be extended to support customer business requirements.
- Work directly with clients to design and size their MES infrastructure. Support the customer’s IT department in understanding the MES architecture and provide guidance on installation and design best practices.
- Document/review system solution architecture design and identify technical & commercial risks during design phase
- Lead/support design workshops, along with an MES functional consultant, to understand the customer’s business requirements and use-cases.
- Partner with the client and internal RA resources to design technical solutions that make best use of the MES platform and the existing extension codebase.
- Support, review, or directly write Functional Design Specifications to define what functions fit the standard application framework and what custom developed application code is required for site-specific business purposes.
- Build migration strategies for clients to move from previous MES systems or from paper batch records
- Own the full development lifecycle including creation of work items, approval of pull requests, code reviews, unit test reviews, software build and release.
- Provide guidance on GAMP, GxP, FDA guidelines and best practices.
The Candidate:
- 8+ years (approx.) of professional functional/technical experience related to software development & systems design and deployment
- Significant experience with MES applications in life sciences
- Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner to various audience levels
- Self-starter with a high degree of initiative and the ability and desire to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly
- Strong ability with Java programming and experience working in a team development environment using tools such as Eclipse, JIRA, and GIT.
- Hands-on experience with Java-based build and deployment tools such as Maven, ANT and shell script.
- Knowledge of MSSQL and Oracle
- Experience using message queuing for JMS (e.g. ActiveMQ)
- Experience with CI tools such as Jenkins.
- Knowledge of multi-thread programming, Exception Handling, Logging and Localization
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux, including installation, management, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of virtualized environments such as VMWare and Docker.
- Experience with Enterprise Integration Patterns for integration of MES to ERP and Automation systems.
- Knowledge of J2EE Application Servers (e.g. JBoss) to perform installation, configuration and maintenance tasks.
- Understanding of MVC design patterns.
Salary – $125k-$145k Per Annum + Bonus (8%) + Benefits
