Job description

Our Nashville based client are looking for a Commerical Data Officer to lead data analytics and governance within its Commercial Banking division. This onsite role is crucial in developing and executing a comprehensive data strategy that drives business insights and supports sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Tennessee market and a proven track record in building and leading high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Strategy & Management Reporting:

    • Lead the development of a semantic data consumption layer within a modern data warehouse, promoting ease of use and self-service.
    • Oversee data projects, ensuring they align with business objectives
    • Regularly update the executive leadership team on the progress of the data strategy and roadmap.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor, utilizing data to enhance business performance and strategic planning.
  • Data Governance & Controls:

    • Manage the governance and control framework for commercial data, ensuring full compliance with data protection regulations.
    • Work closely with stakeholders to identify data ownership and establish robust data controls.
    • Provide leadership on the development and enforcement of data policies, standards, and procedures.
    • Oversee strategic data platforms to guarantee resiliency, security, and proper data flow.
  • Team Leadership & Development:

    • Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing commercial data team, fostering a strong data-driven culture across the organization.
    • Collaborate with the technology department to ensure data accessibility while maintaining appropriate access controls.
    • Focus on the professional growth and career development of team members through active coaching and mentorship.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of senior data management experience, with at least 5 years in commercial banking.
  • Proven experience in the Tennessee market, with the ability to build and manage a local team.
  • Extensive experience in data governance, lifecycle policy, and standards.
  • Strong leadership skills with a history of successfully managing and developing teams.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI, SQL, and SAS, with in-depth knowledge of industry best practices in Data Architecture, Analytics, and Governance.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing and leading culture change initiatives at the executive level.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.

  • Hands-on leadership in developing analytics solutions and providing best practices guidance.
  • Effective prioritization and alignment of work with senior leadership to ensure delivery plans support the business strategy.
