Job description

More than 30% of global energy is used for the heating and cooling of buildings. We believe that this environmental footprint can be reduced significantly by controlling the indoor climate in an intelligent way. Our elegant Smart Thermostats and innovative digital services guarantee users both a comfortable home and intelligent energy usage.

Join us to shape how our customers consume energy in their homes across the globe – for a more sustainable future!

We are looking for a Full-Stack Software Engineer who wants to be part of a cross-functional team given clear objectives and the autonomy to discover the right solutions. If you want to make a difference, challenge yourself every day, and want to work amongst passionate colleagues that love their products, you're at the right place!

Why work at tado°:

  • Work in an empowered and autonomous product team. Our teams have clear and ambitious objectives, minimal dependencies, and the freedom to create outstanding solutions.

  • Grow personally by learning from your highly-skilled, dedicated colleagues and through frequent feedback.

  • Our way of working is at the forefront of modern product development. A good summary of our approach is Inspired by Marty Cagan. We interact with our users continuously, iterate frequently, limit the work in progress, and aim to learn daily how to add value for our customers and our business.

  • Join an international team of 200+ people to make a great product even better, scale it to a broader audience and thereby have a positive impact on reducing worldwide energy consumption.

  • Scale with us: Our customer base grows by 50-70% annually. Help us design our processes and services to be ahead of this growth.

Your Role

As a software engineer, you and your team will be responsible for developing the installation experience of our tado° products. This includes connecting tado° devices in the user's home network, adding devices to the tado° platform, and providing the users with installation instructions so anybody can install tado°. Your daily business will involve the following:

  • Discover opportunities together with other engineers, a UX designer, and a product manager

  • Participate in and lead data-driven decision-making to find the next value-adding solution

  • Engage with users regularly through qualitative and quantitative research

  • Bring the right solutions to life - fast and sustainable - using JVM-based languages and frameworks as well as modern web and mobile technologies.

  • Deploy small version increments to production, then monitor and scale it on AWS infrastructure.

As of today, we are using the following technologies: Kotlin (Spring, Ktor), TypeScript (Angular 15), Dart (Flutter), AWS, GitHub, and Google Workspace for collaboration.

Requirements

  • You have a broad technical experience in backend- and frontend development (Mid-Level/Senior), and you're confident in getting into new technologies or unknown code bases.

  • You are conscientious, used to taking the initiative over receiving directions, and can manage your time and focus.

  • You actively seek opportunities to improve yourself, the working process, your team collaboration, and feedback mechanisms.

  • You have experience in rapidly introducing incremental change to production systems.

  • You are effective in explaining complex topics in English, appropriately tailoring your delivery according to your audience.

  • You are interested (having experience is a plus) in the HVAC technology domain.

Benefits

  • Enjoy a remote-friendly and flexible working environment

  • Annual Learning & Development budget to thrive your professional and personal development

  • Grow individually by learning from your highly-skilled and dedicated colleagues through an open, appreciative feedback culture and regular peer-to-peer training

  • Take advantage of company-wide events and traditional 'o clock parties to connect with colleagues and celebrate throughout the year

  • Weekly free lunch at the office, a bright & modern working space only 10 mins from Munich Central Station

  • Benefit from corporate discounts via "Corporate Benefits"

  • For your fitness and work-life balance, we support discounted access to gyms and courses through “EGYM Wellpass”

  • 30 days of vacation, subsidized German language courses, and a contribution to the company pension scheme
