DNS Solutions Architect

As Technical Solutions Architect you will join our Architecture team who are tasked with delivering architecture and solutions for our DNS based Cyber Security product that helps protect customers against cyber security threats. We’re making a difference by detecting, blocking, and analysing cyber security threats amongst billions of DNS queries. Our mission critical product and adherence to strict security and compliance controls mean you will have many challenging problems to solve.

You will assure network, DNS and systems solution design, so all elements of the solution are aligned to IT architecture and standards to deliver the required outcomes for the project and ultimately the customer. The candidate should be able to develop high & low-level designs, assure solution builds including both functional and technical aspects and support the delivery of the designs, sometimes within a customer’s environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure our customers have reliable, flexible and scalable infrastructure for the future. Support the delivery of solutions including the cyber platform aligned with our core design principles.
  • Responsible for the technical design of platform architecture utilising Network, DNS and Systems knowledge and toolsets.
  • Responsible for the technical design of platform architecture that may also be utilising containerisation and cloud toolset.
  • Support the physical and logical delivery (implementation) of the design into customers environments whilst engaging with other subject matter experts. Where or when required aid with a ‘hands on’ technical approach.
  • Be comfortable and excited about working with and learning the breadth of enterprise technologies and emerging architectures.
  • Establish knowledge and understanding of world class technology organizations and hold a strong external perspective of developments in Technology.
  • Evaluating technology market trends to identify alternative solution options and associated costs. Identify and addressing gaps in the current infrastructure and capabilities to deliver required business goals.
  • Researching relevant literature, communities and forums to gain insight to assist in ensuring the architecture remains fit for purpose.

 

Professional Skills, Background and Profile

  • Operating as a technical solution design authority with experience working in Infrastructure, Networks, DNS, Software and Application roles with an advanced understanding across a broad spectrum of mission critical infrastructure technologies.
  • Knowledge of Recursive DNS software, PowerDNS, Unbound, Bind a plus.
  • Infrastructure related technology innovation and emerging technology awareness with a good external, market knowledge of target applications, environments, systems software, packages, platforms etc.
  • Pro-active self-learner capable of understanding new technologies quickly with facilitation, influencing and negotiation skills to be able to share and communicate that knowledge.
  • Advanced practical knowledge of Internet networking protocols and peering principles e.g. BGP, OSPF
  • JNCIP, CCNP or equivalents desirable.
  • Significant hands-on knowledge of public cloud providers (Certification desired).
  • Strong focus to Cyber Security.
  • Significant hands-on knowledge of Red Hat Linux and the Red Hat ecosystem (Certification desired).

 

  • Demonstrable knowledge of:
    • Infrastructure & network design
    • DNS / DNSSEC
    • Networking hardware, Dell, Juniper, NSX-T
      • (Cisco and HP skills considered transferable)
    • Load Balancing Technologies – F5, NGINX.
    • Agile and DevOps tools such as Jira, Ansible and Terraform
    • Cloud infrastructure design, implementation and monitoring
    • Container Orchestration (Kubernetes preferred)
