Job description

Senior Business / Functional Analyst

  • Location: Luxembourg (100% Onsite)
  • Contract Duration: 12 Months (Freelance / Contract)
  • Eligibility: Must hold EU Citizenship OR a valid, active Luxembourg Work Permit (Mandatory)

We are seeking a highly experienced Business and Functional Analyst to support the evolutive maintenance, functional enhancement, and optimization of a core institutional advisory application. Acting as the critical bridge between business stakeholders, operational users, and IT teams, you will ensure the platform fully scales to meet complex operational, reporting, and strict data governance requirements across multiple mandates.

Core Objectives & Scope

  • Workflow Optimization: Drive continuous improvement of complex operational workflows and business processes aligned with specific institutional mandates.
  • Functional Scope Definition: Conduct detailed "As-Is" analysis to map out gaps, identify optimization areas, and define robust "To-Be" functional architectures.
  • Data & BI Enhancement: Extend reporting, Data Warehouse (DWH), and Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities while adhering to rigid Data Governance Office (DGO) best practices.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Define and lead end-to-end functional testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) strategies across diverse stakeholder groups.

Key Responsibilities

1. Requirements Engineering & Functional Design

  • Prepare structured, clear, and high-quality business/functional requirement documents (BRDs/FRDs) and detailed IT specifications.
  • Map data fields (including precise types and properties), write technical user stories/use cases, and construct comprehensive business status diagrams.
  • Define platform access rights, user roles/actors, screen layouts, navigation logic, and system alert/notification configurations.

2. Data Governance & Analytics

  • Architect Data Warehouse and universe extensions to accommodate new dynamic data fields over project lifecycles.
  • Complete detailed DGO templates for new data fields in compliance with institutional data governance frameworks.
  • Translate business requests into prioritized reporting backlogs for technical development.

3. Testing, QA & Coordination

  • Design overarching test approaches, write test strategies, and compile test plans based on approved functional requirements.
  • Execute functional tests, coordinate cross-department UAT, and manage defects through resolution utilizing tracking tools like Jira.
  • Secure formal sign-offs and endorsements from Advisory Services, IT, and external institutional entities (e.g., JASPERS, PJ) following successful testing cycles.

4. Knowledge Transfer & Roadmap Strategy

  • Deliver clear documentation for all implemented platform enhancements and new features.
  • Draft operational user guides and deliver targeted coaching and training sessions to end-users.
  • Contribute valuable technical insights to the long-term product roadmap and future regulatory change requests.

Mandatory Requirements & Skills

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be considered:

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of experience working as a Functional/Business Analyst, ideally within institutional banking, international financial organizations, or highly regulated public sectors.
  • Process Mapping: Mastery of "As-Is" and "To-Be" workflow modeling, gap analyses, and business rules specification.
  • Data Skills: Strong familiarity with Data Warehousing concepts, relational data modeling, BI reporting structures, and data governance standards.
  • QA Lifecycle: Direct experience driving UAT cycles and tracking defects in Jira.
  • Compliance & Logistics: Ready to work full-time onsite in Luxembourg, holding a valid EU Passport or Luxembourgish work authorization.
