Title: Senior Infrastructure & Automation Engineer – VMware / Linux / SAN 

Location: Luxembourg(50% onsite, 50% remote)
Contract Type: Long-term freelance contract
Start Date: ASAP
Clearance: EU citizenship required

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure & Automation Engineer to join a long-term project with a new client in Belgium. This is a technically challenging role, working within a complex enterprise environment to design, implement, and optimise infrastructure solutions supporting mission-critical SAP and Oracle platforms.

The successful candidate will have deep expertise in VMware ESXi, Red Hat Linux, SAN storage, and automation with Ansible, along with experience integrating enterprise backup and high-availability configurations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, test, and implement Ansible playbooks for provisioning prerequisites on VMware ESXi-hosted Red Hat Linux (RHEL 8/9) systems.

  • Deploy and support:

    • SAP Hana with cascading system replication (shared-nothing topology) and Linux clustering.

    • SAP S/4 Hana with Linux clustering and file-based replication (rsync).

    • Oracle RAC with Oracle Data Guard, including production/non-production segregation and DMZ environments.

  • Integrate with multi-vendor enterprise infrastructure, ensuring compatibility with VMware, Brocade SAN, Hitachi storage arrays, SAP, Oracle, RedHat OS, and NetBackup.

  • Perform engineering tasks, automation scripting, and system integration within standard enterprise configurations.

  • Produce technical documentation, best practice guides, and operational procedures.

  • Prepare and deliver technical training to colleagues when required.

  • Provide L3 support for incidents and service requests related to project activities.

  • Perform occasional emergency interventions outside standard working hours.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT (or equivalent professional experience).

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in infrastructure engineering within enterprise environments.

  • Strong expertise in VMware vSphere / ESXi and Red Hat Linux administration.

  • Proven experience with SAN/NAS, cloud storage, and Fibre Channel networking.

  • Hands-on expertise with Hitachi storage arrays and Brocade SAN switches.

  • Experience deploying and supporting SAP Hana and SAP S/4 Hana with Linux clustering.

  • Experience with Oracle RAC and Oracle Data Guard.

  • Knowledge of Linux clustering and high-availability configurations.

  • Proficiency in automation and scripting with Ansible.

  • Experience with NetBackup or similar enterprise backup solutions.

  • Strong documentation and configuration management skills.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to perform under pressure in critical situations.

  • Fluent in English and French.
